We often receive excellent feedback but on this occasion we wanted to share the thoughts of Les Chorley, Buildings and Facilities Manager at the University of Oxford.
I joined the Department of Materials over 10 years ago and one of my biggest challenges being the amount of buildings under my control and the age. The electrical side being one of the biggest challenges, very old buildings, with new technology and equipment arriving on a frequent bases. This required a lot of planning and internal upgrades to the electrical system. I was introduced to Craig from Bojen who made my work so much easier. He knew the University’s way of working and the standards expected, Craig was also very knowledgeable on all of the buildings which was a great start and we have carried some major changes across 7 buildings during my time, all of which have been managed and completed successfully by Bojen.
Bojen have now been working directly for Materials for the past 10 years and is the department go to electrical contractor for both minor and major projects. One major contract I had the pleasure on working on with Bojen was the Rex Richards fit out, this was a complete strip out and install of the main electrical systems across 4 levels covering approx 1600 m2, covering: New lighting systems, alarms and smoke detectors, fire panel, single and 3 phase supplies. All of these works where both completed on time and within budget. We also had a major problem during the fit our stage and the need to install a generator to support the building. Bojen’s both project managed and completed the works with no down time to research within the building.
We also use Bojen for all of our in-house electrical designs from, lab fit outs to research groups (High voltage testing, student wiring designs) to make sure they are both safe and to the expected standards. Prior to any research taking place.
